After years in school and working at desk jobs, my wife and I now have the opportunity to live just outside The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This gives us the opportunity to explore Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina which includes three national forests, state forests, and state parks in addition to the national park. While we shoot where ever we are visiting, our hearts stay in the majestic, southern Appalachian Mountains, shrouded in mist that I see out my window as I write this.
My wife and I work together on projects; but, she concentrates on images of people. Her images are available at www.kathysmithphotography.com. She does post nature related images on this site, also. I prefer creating images that represent the beauty in environment around us. I believe that beautiful images tell a story about the interdependence of all elements of nature and are based on the photographers understanding of these relationships. Technical knowledge is important but may generate sterile results without the awe of creation in the photographer’s soul. I will share the images I create and what I learn about the world I shot here because we are always learning.
I am a Certified Professional Photographer, Craftsman and Master Photographer through Professional Photographers of America. I am also a member of ASP, American Society of Photographers.
