Composition is the difference between a cliché and an outstanding image. I have not found any better web site dedicated to composition than The Mindful Eye and it is all free.
Just click on the Features Tab and see the long list of wonderful choices. The Daily Critique is my personal favorite. It is not daily but it is posted frequently. In these videos, Craig Tanner takes an image submitted by a community member and discusses the elements of composition included in the picture. He frequently also demonstrated how to improve it in Photoshop.
Craig also posts videos in From Start to Finish that show his process from conception thou post processing. He has started to add Foundation Concepts which discuss camera settings to save class time for students at his workshops but he is sharing them with us all. Another favorite of mine is Digital Dark Room which, surprise, shows techniques for the digital dark room.
Some of the videos are also created by the site’s other contributors, Marti Jeffers and Bryan Allen but Craig does the heavy lifting. There is an active community in the forum and a nice selection of workshops offered by the group. Between the forums and the videos there is much to learn here. Check it out.
