• Welcome to our Photography Adventure!

We are a couple who share a love of photography and a set of Nikon lenses but differ somewhat in our approaches and styles.  This site provides an opportunity to present our images, thoughts and techniques as well as learning what you think about them when you comment.  What better way is there to improve than for the photographic community to challenge and nuture it members.  The Internet creates that opportunity for us all so please join us as we pursue a Wild and Wonderful Photography adventure.

Early Morning in Cades Cove

It was early one fall morning when we headed into the Smoky Mountains for sunrise pictures. I know this is several hours after sunrise, but I liked the way the sunburst formed through the tree. The gentleman walking by just added to the scene. He happened to walk by when no cars were passing in front of my lens. If you have ever been to the Great Smoky Mountains, especially the Cades Cove loop, you know it can be bumper to bumper most days, all day long. The fog in the background was beginning to burn off, but enough remained to add the “smoky” look to the mountains!

Forrest Tainio - I must say my wife and I absolutly love your work! Especially the landscape though all of your captures are spectacular! Keep up the great work.

Cheers, Forrest & Camellia Tainio

Lensbaby and Photoshop Blending Modes

This image of the Gerber Daisy was taken back in the summer before any thoughts of snow.  I used the Lensbaby Composer with the double optics at f/2.8 to capture this image.  After not being totally pleased with the outcome I added a few layers in Photoshop CS5 using blending modes to achieve the transparent areas.  I turned  the Gerber Daisy into an interesting image with just a few layers.

Senior Collage

Using Photoshop CS5, I placed images of Alex in a Collage.  The free transform function allowed me to rotate the images to a somewhat pleasing layout.
